World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) is a publicly traded, privately controlled integrated media (focusing in television, Internet, and live events), and sports entertainment company dealing primarily in the professional wrestling industry, with major revenue sources also coming from film, music, product licensing, and direct product sales. Vince McMahon is the majority owner and Chairman of the company and has previously had former WWE superstar, Daniel hold the position of CEO before he quit after the July 18th incident.
HISTORY
The Uprising
Daniel Tomlinson first came up with the idea for WWF after watching an episode of the real WWF's Raw is War program, broadcast on November 14th 2000. Daniel soon started collecting stars like Triple H, The Rock, Stone Cold & Undertaker soon after from Ramsdens. After collecting around 30 figures by the next winter, Daniel continued his project further, by hosting his first show, a Christmas day Day-All-Day event called Rebellion. Held from three locations (his home in Grimsby, his aunties in Cleethorpes and his grandparents in Grimsby also), he booked several new and original ideas, starting with the Ice Deathmatch where Kane & Triple H would batter each other, limb from limb with sharp pieces of ice and snowballs until they finally knocked the opponent down for ten. Daniel also booked feuds between Chris Benoit & the Hardy Boyz and Chyna against Lita etc. The stage around this time was the TTL Raw stage and soon after, the real sounds arena for SmackDown! and its first stage.
The Full-Turn
By the middle of 2002, Daniel was in competition with his cousin, Robert Dixon and his federation, the Organisation of Chaos (OOC), which would broadcast shows with their figures as well as at each others arenas, fighting matches on a bed with invisible ropes and posts. However as OOC began to burn in hell as Robert went into the golfing business, he joined the WWF and the duo would be called "the Equalizers". Daniel and the now-original Tornado would defeat the Legion of Doom and the APA as well as the now-controversial Bible Men (God, Jesus & Noah). The final show broadcast from the infamous Dixon's arena (auntie's house) was on June 26th 2003, where Jeff Hardy & Justin Credible fought to a double count-out, as well as Tornado defeating Daniel in a one-off match to say goodbye to the "ring" and its arena.
The Times Change
In April 2003, Brock Lesnar debuted in the WWF and won the WWF Championship from Triple H, but it happened in controversial fashion. Triple H's contract had expired a week before Backlash (on April 1st) and nobody knew, Lesnar arrived at the event 25 minutes late, due to being stopped by a police officer for driving without a liscense on him. In the 25 minutes, Triple H had asked for a new contract from Vince, which he signed immediately. Lesnar pinned Triple H, but management was shocked at the new WWF Champion after announcing his stopping and the creative team made an Internet-exclusive show "Titles vs. Careers". Held on April 2nd, Vince booked Triple H to win back the gold. Lesnar did as was told and was immediately banned from WWF television for a month. Triple H kept his title until October, where Rob Van Dam won his title, before losing it to Lesnar at Royal Rumble's New Year's Show. Being live on air from 8pm on New Year's Eve, Lesnar & RVD went up at 12:35 as Shawn Michaels won the Rumble match. Lesnar was now the confident 2-time Champion, who destroyed legend after legend, and went strong into his match with veteran, Daniel. Lesnar would continue to be a strong champion until he was told to pass the belt on to HBK the night before WrestleMania XX, the last show to present the WWF initials. At the time of this, the match was announced as the biggest event in this WWF ever and to hype it up, Daniel decided to use his brand-new trampoline with it. Here, Daniel had it set as a steel-cage match where you could only escape via the exit or by pinfall. HBK won and Lesnar turned face on that night.
The New Draft
On March 22nd, five days before WrestleMania XX, Daniel & Vince made a draft between Jerry Lawler's Raw and Paul Heyman's SmackDown! Here confusion arose over which brand the WWF Championship would be on. Michaels & Lesnar were both, fortunately drafted on Raw, but management still worried over SmackDown's world champ. So management decided to make the draft effective from April 2nd. As Raw's championship had a second RAW Champion in Hulk Hogan from April 22nd's Backlash, SmackDown!'s Championship would go to Eddie Guerrero, who defeated the dirty Eddie Guerrero. The brands topped each other week-to-week, with both becoming equal in the ratings but the two brands began to grow as Triple H won back the RAW title from now 2-time HBK to Stone Cold beating Chris Benoit for his first SMACKDOWN Championship, both taking place at Summerslam. However business would pick up again as two days after Stone Cold won the SMACKDOWN title, Daniel won the belt from him, who had also just turned heel on Tornado. As Triple H defeated Big Show then Kane, Edge, Brock Lesnar & Shawn Michaels on Raw in September & October, Daniel defeated Kurt Angle & Batista before beating Tornado in November on SmackDown!; the brands changed their titles and the WWE Championship went to Smackdown as the World title went to Raw.
The Technology
By 2005, the WWE went into a more of a technical-style way of wrestling. This really began as Daniel (now a face) beat Kurt Angle to become a 2-time WWE Champ. This was followed by having all cruiserweights in a Ladder match challenge (similar to Destination X 2005's Ultimate X match) on May 30th in Tokyo, Japan. There was also a great amount of hardcore feel to it at the same time. Daniel & Triple H were doing wonders for the ratings and popularity, boasting to be with the Rocks & the Hogans of wrestling. This soon altered as Triple H entered a feud with Cactus Jack & Edge, which Triple H won back the month after, at Summerslam. Daniel finally lost his title in December to Randy Orton, but this was because of Daniel introducing his girlfriend into the story. Daniel was powerbombed off of the ladder and out of the ring through a table as Orton grabbed the belt. As Daniel defeated Orton at WrestleMania 22 in Pontiac Silverdome, Shawn Michaels was back in the fold, trying to both repeat history against Big Show at the historic event as well as avenge his friend, Triple H's injury. This went successful and things moved on.
The Current & The July 18th Incident
By WrestleMania 23 on April 1st, this was the third of three WrestleMania's held outdoors on a trampoline. Daniel called this the Skyscraper Stadium. Kurt Angle won the WWE title as Daniel himself defeated Edge for the world title. Things went smoothly until July 18th. Here, Daniel announced he would be retiring, due to his knees but this made life hell for him as management (mainly Sergeant Slaughter) made his match at Fully Loaded on July 18th against Kane, then in a stretcher match before announcing that he would lose the title. Daniel lost and was so angered that he drove off without saying goodbye. As Daniel was going through his messages on a dirt road in Las Vegas, Slaughter sent him a voice mail which insulted him for not being grateful. Daniel went back to the arena and attacked him, ramming him with a large shard of glass from the legend's door, giving him a piledriver onto his own desk and smashign a framed certificate over his skull. Daniel was arrested and spent the night in prison before being released to mainly apologize but when getting to the meeting, Daniel quit. On Smackdown, the WWE scored a buy-rate of 143,000,000 for it's main event, an ironman match for the WWE title between Kurt Angle & Bret Hart, which went 74 minutes into overtime. The text-fedding results begins at Summerslam, a two day event, with SmackDown! on July 21st (the monthly usual PPV Tuesday) and Raw on July 22nd, the day after. WWE now uses the real WWE's history up to December 2002 and the Women's Championship and its roster is interpromotional after SmackDown's Divas title bombed.
